The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), has unveiled plans for its 75th Anniversary celebration, announcing the official theme, commemorative logo, anniversary cloth and a year-long programme of activities to mark the milestone.

The celebrations will be officially launched on June 24, 2026, under the theme, "From Excellence to Eminence: 75 Years of KNUST."

Speaking to KNUST Management at the Council Chamber, Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Professor William Otoo Ellis, said the theme emerged from extensive consultations and aligns with the University's strategic aspirations.

"We deliberated extensively on the theme for the anniversary and took into consideration the University's strategic plan and focus," he said.

According to Prof. Ellis, the theme reflects KNUST's determination to build on its tradition of excellence while positioning itself for greater global relevance, impact and leadership in higher education, research and innovation.

As part of the launch, the University will also unveil a commemorative publication documenting its history, achievements and contributions over the past seven decades.

Prof. Ellis explained that the idea for the publication was conceived during preparations for KNUST's 70th Anniversary celebrations after concerns were raised about the need for a comprehensive record of the University's growth and impact.

"We realized that so much has been done by this University, but unfortunately not much has been documented comprehensively. We therefore set out to produce a publication that captures the KNUST story and preserves its legacy for future generations," he said.

He noted that the anniversary celebrations will feature a wide range of activities beginning in June and continuing throughout the year.
